Provo River Fishing Report: Midge and Blue Wing Olive hatch

Lower Provo (Below Deer Creek)

baetisThe lower Provo River has been fishing well lately with our warmer temps the last few weeks. We are experiencing a good mid-day Midge hatches and also seeing the beginning signs of Blue Wing Olives. Flows are still low which make for ideal wading conditions for sight fishing and casting dries. When fishing the nymph, use thin tippet and light weight on an in-line rig with a small indicator. Trout seem to be a bit shy of heavy tippet and weight. They are holding in all types of water from deep and slow to shallow and slow. I believe smaller bugs and good drifts are a must right now. As we see water temperatures rise we will witness many more BWO’s on the water. Best time to fish is from 10:30am – 5:00pm. Please continue to me mindful of other anglers and property owners. See you out there. – WASATCH GUIDE SERVICE
