Lower Provo (Below Deer Creek)

IMG_0128 (1)This week the lower Provo River has dropped significantly. My thought is with the amount of moisture we’ve been receiving lately, they’ve decide to hold back flows. Currently the river is running at 262 (cfs) which provides for great drifts and hatches. We are seeing good Midge hatch for the majority of the day and some Baetis in the afternoons. Trout are holding in all types of water from fast/deep and slow/shallow. Fishing on the upper stretches on the lower Provo have been producing quality size browns and rainbows. If you think you need to add or remove weight to get that perfect drift, do it. Sow bugs are the consistent bug right now. We look forward to seeing you on the river. – WASATCH GUIDE SERVICE

Lower Provo (Below Deer Creek)

photo (42)From last fishing report things have really changed on the lower Provo River. The river is now running at 543 CFS. With river levels going up as much as they have this past week, the trout have moved into new feeling lanes. Typically, when any river goes up the fish tend to move into the slow water. Sometimes they end up in deep runs but they also like shallower water close to the banks. Big Sow Bugs and Baetis nymphs on a bounce rigs have been a good rig lately. The month of May on the Provo River offers some of the best fly fishing conditions in the country. The big fish love to come out and play. Be careful crossing and we look forward to seeing you on the river. – WASATCH GUIDE SERVICE
