The Sow Bug and San Juan have been the most consistent food choice. As flows continue to drop we will see the PMD’s and Caddis hatch’s increase. Lower Provo (Below Deer Creek)

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERAThe lower Provo River is running BIG right now. This week they have continued to release a lot of water from Deer Creek Reservoir. Here at WGS we like high water because the monster fish like to come out and play. Big water equals big fish. The Mother Day Caddis have started coming off on the Weber River and middle Provo River. Best time of day is from 10AM – 4PM. Sow Bugs have been the food of choice. Don’t try and cross the lower, it’s to high. Be safe!

Lower Provo (Below Deer Creek)

Lower Provo River Brown TroutSpring Time fly fishing on the Provo River is in full swing. Within the last few days the lower Provo River has began to rise significantly and the fish are now settling into their new runs. As the river continues to rise you will witness the fish start staging closer to the banks in the shallow softer water. The early morning hrs have been good nymphing and depending on the day, we’ve experienced good dry fly fishing too. Be careful when wading high water and always be mindful of other anglers. Go Fish.
