Lower Provo (Below Deer Creek)

Recovered_JPEG Digital Camera_127The Provo River in on fire right now and fishing conditions are perfect. Both the Middle and Lower Provo are producing good Blue Wing and Midge hatches. If you want to just target the BWO hatch on the lower Provo, you want to be on the water from 12:00 noon until 4PM. Nymph fishing has been awesome. With the flows still running low at 125CFS, the fish are feeding a lot in the backend of runs. I imagine as the river starts to rise you will see the fish start moving into the fast currents. Get out and fish, your wont regret it. See you on the water.

Streamflow: 125 CFS

Primary Hatch: BWO’s (#16 – #22) Midge (#16 – #20) Sow Bugs (#16 – #20) Baetis (#16 – #20)

Best Techniques: Fish all types of water.  (fast, slow, inside seams, outside seams) When fishing softer slower water, run the swing rig with light weight and short leader. If your not ticking on the bounce you need more weight.  Fish the dry too.

Best Flies: BWO’s (18-20), Midge (16-24), Sow Bugs (18-22), Juju Baetis (18-20) Barr’s Emergers (18-16)
